Terms of Service

Welcome to Forge Battle Maps. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of our website, digital store, and any digital products, battle maps, character tokens, or graphic assets purchased through our platform.

By purchasing, downloading, or using our digital products, you explicitly agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to all of these Terms, you are prohibited from purchasing or downloading our files.

1. Eligibility and Account Security By making a purchase, you represent and warrant that you have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement. If your purchase involves creating an account or providing an email address, you are entirely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities that occur under your account or digital delivery link. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your digital access links.

2. Digital License & Allowed Commercial Usage When you purchase a map bundle, expansion pack, or digital asset from Forge Battle Maps, you are not buying the intellectual property itself. Instead, you are purchasing a non-exclusive, non-transferable, worldwide, perpetual license to use the files for both personal entertainment and specific commercial ventures.

  • What you CAN do (Allowed Uses):
    • TTRPG Publications & Digital Modules: You can use the maps as illustrations or encounter grids in your own RPG rulebooks, adventure modules, and campaign settings sold on platforms like DriveThruRPG, Itch.io, or your own digital store.
    • Crowdfunding Projects: You can feature our maps in your Kickstarter, BackerKit, or Indiegogo projects as part of the core product or stretch goals.
    • Video Games & Software: You can use the maps as background textures, levels, user interface backgrounds, or digital assets inside indie video games, visual novels, or interactive applications.
    • Streaming & Video Content: You can freely use the maps during monetized live streams, actual-play shows, and video content on platforms such as YouTube, Twitch, TikTok, or Patreon.
    • Physical Printing for Resale: You can include printed versions of the maps as physical inserts inside published book box sets, physical adventure packs, or boxed gaming kits.
    • Modifications & Animations (VTT Enhancements): You are fully allowed to modify, edit, crop, recolor, and alter our maps to fit your specific creative needs. This includes adding animations, dynamic lighting layers, weather effects, or moving elements to our maps and selling them as enhanced or animated battle maps, provided they are integrated into your larger creative work.
    • Print-on-Demand Merchandising: You are fully allowed to use our maps for Print-on-Demand (POD) products. You can upload them to specialized platforms or use third-party manufacturing services to sell them as physical posters, canvas prints, gaming playmats, tabletop mats, or other physical merchandise featuring the map artwork.
  • What you CANNOT do (Strictly Prohibited):
    • No Standalone Reselling: You are strictly forbidden from reselling, redistributing, sub-licensing, or giving away these maps as standalone digital images, raw file packs, or asset bundles. You cannot share your personal download links with third parties.
    • No Unaltered Resale: You cannot simply rename our bundles, modify them superficially, and sell them as your own map collection or asset pack. Our maps must always be a functional part of a larger, broader, and independent creative work (such as a fully written adventure story, a coded video game, or a compiled physical merchandise item).

3. Delivery of Digital Goods and Technical Compatibility All purchases are fulfilled strictly through digital means. Upon successful validation of your payment, our system automatically generates secure, time-sensitive download links leading to our cloud storage infrastructure (e.g., Dropbox).

We host files in optimized formats (such as JPG and PNG) divided into specialized directories for high-resolution printing (300 DPI threshold where applicable) and Virtual Tabletop (VTT) systems. While we design our files to be system-neutral and fully compatible with modern VTT platforms (including Roll20, Foundry VTT, Owlbear Rodeo, and Fantasy Grounds), you acknowledge that it is your responsibility to ensure your hardware and software meet the technical requirements to open and utilize these files.

4. Intellectual Property and Copyright Ownership Forge Battle Maps retains all right, title, and interest in and to the original artwork, designs, code, style, and digital files. The assets are protected by international copyright laws and intellectual property treaties. Utilizing advanced artificial intelligence tools during our creative process serves as an initial production engine; however, the final product constitutes a proprietary asset due to our rigorous manual selection, extensive Adobe Photoshop retouching, upscaling, and custom pipeline curation. Your commercial license does not transfer copyright ownership to you or your business entity.

5. Disclaimer of Warranties All digital products are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. Forge Battle Maps explicitly disclaims all warranties, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the digital files will operate completely error-free, uninterrupted, or perfectly compatible with every future software iteration of third-party VTT systems.

6. Limitation of Liability To the maximum extent permitted by applicable digital commerce law, Forge Battle Maps and its registered owner shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages. This includes, without limitation, loss of profits, data corruption, system downtime, or business interruptions arising out of or in connection with your use or inability to use our digital assets, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. In no event shall our total liability exceed the actual amount paid by you for the specific product causing the alleged dispute.

7. Termination of License We reserve the right to terminate your license to use our digital assets immediately if you breach any of the strict prohibitions outlined in Section 2 of these Terms. Upon termination, you must permanently cease all commercial and personal distribution of products containing our assets, and destroy all copies of the raw files in your possession.

8. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution These Terms, your purchase, and any legal disputes arising from the use of our platform or assets shall be governed by and construed in accordance with international copyright frameworks and the digital commerce regulations applicable to the country where our business is registered. Any formal legal proceedings or disputes that cannot be settled amicably through direct communication shall be submitted exclusively to the competent courts holding jurisdiction over the creator’s registered place of business.

9. Modifications to the Terms We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms at any time without prior individual notice. The updated version will be marked with a revised “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use or purchase of our assets following any such changes constitutes your explicit agreement to follow and be bound by the updated Terms.
